SUMMARY OF POSITION:



Responsible for the needs-assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of training programs for the Kenilworth Manufacturing facility to ensure that Level II and Level III Standards are fully understood by all affected facility personnel and that training in these areas is documented. Directs the activities of the training staff to ensure that training programs meet the requirements of Quality Systems Program (QSP) Technical Services Training, and the FDA. Will work closely with line management and Technical Services Training Staff on program design, implementation and assessment/evaluation. A particular challenge for this position will be rewriting 5 SOPs for each of the 92 standards in a two-year timeframe.



MAJOR ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:



-Collaborates with management to identify skill-set gaps in manufacturing facility personnel, determine training needs and ensure training curricula are optimally designed and implemented.



-Identifies the means, methods and delivery systems necessary to successfully implement training required by the overall Quality Systems Program and establishes metrics to evaluate training effectiveness.



-Determines training budget allocation and monitors effectiveness.



-Monitors FDA/industry training trends and expectations and develops a strategic plan to meet current and long-range needs.



-Oversees the establishment and maintenance of databases/SOPs documenting training processes.



-Closely collaborates with the NJ QSP Senior Project Management and Technical Services Training to ensure consistent and accurate delivery of all required training, and compliance with FDA guidelines.



-Oversees all required technical training for accuracy and relevancy of content; determines applicability of learning objectives and materials to understanding technical processes and tasks.


SCOPE MEASURES:



-Directs semi-monthly employees ( # of staff not determined at this time ? estimates could be from 6 to 60) responsible for significant training programs which directly impact Schering?s regulatory status with the FDA.



-Direct impact on potentially $1.1 billion in sales in Kenilworth, NJ.



-Responsible for department budget, goals, and salary planning.



BACKGROUND REQUIREMENTS:



-BS in Science, Education, Life Sciences



-10 to 15 years experience in pharmaceutical/GMP curriculum development and training, preferably in a manufacturing environment.



-A pharmaceutical background and strong knowledge with FDA and EEC regulations/ guidelines



-Knowledge of training concepts, program development, outcome evaluation
Able to work effectively with personnel at all levels



-Demonstrated experience in building strong working relationships, creating metrics for measurement; and be a self-motivated team player



-Strong oral and written communication skills are a must
